Steve Meinczinger

Provincial Director

Steve Meinczinger comes from a fourth-generation family farm and second-generation pedigreed seed grower who grew up on the farm near Busby, Alberta. From a young age, Steve was exposed to the ins and outs of the farm and was actively involved in helping his family manage their operation.

After graduating high school, Steve attended the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) and pursued a diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology.  He then spent the bulk of the next 20 years working in the Building Controls industry as Project Manager while continuing to help out on the family farm.

In 2019, Steve’s father retired, and he officially took over the family farm full time.  Steve now manages roughly 1400 acres of grain land, two-thirds of which are dedicated to Pedigreed seed production.  Steve is always eager to learn more about the industry, particularly during this time of seed regulatory modernization.

As a member of the ABCSG board, Steve is excited to further his knowledge and share his experience with others in the industry. He believes in staying informed and involved to stay ahead of the curve.

Steve is a family man who cherishes spending time with his wife and four children – three sons and a daughter. His oldest will be graduating high school this year.  Steve and his family spend the winters being active including both cross country and downhill skiing as well as playing or watching hockey/ringette.  In summers camping, water sports and golfing are favorites whenever the farm allows it.  Steve is proud to see his kids grow up around the farm and hopes to pass on his passion for farming to future generations.
