Brian Ellis
President
Brian Ellis is a farmer by profession and operates a 3,500-acre seed farm just outside Olds, AB, where he grows barley, wheat, peas, canola and other crops. He has a finance degree from the University of Lethbridge and briefly worked in commercial banking before returning to the farm.
Ellis has been growing certified seed for over a decade and takes pride in the quality of his products and the level of service he provides to his customers. He enjoys dealing with individual customers and helping them succeed in their growing season by suggesting new varieties and helping them develop the best plan for success each year.
In addition to farming, Ellis also operates Graham Seed Treating Systems, a manufacturer of seed treatment application equipment. He is a meticulous person by nature, which works well with being a seedsman. His passion for the seed industry led him to join the board of Alberta-British Columbia Seed Growers four years ago, where he wanted to learn more about the industry and the work that goes on behind the scenes.
Ellis is fortunate to farm in one of the best growing regions in Alberta and operates the farm with his wife Melissa and their three teenage boys. He also has some dedicated long-time employees who have been instrumental in the farm’s operations over the years.
When not working, Ellis enjoys travelling to the mountains for some snowmobiling, playing hockey, golfing and spending time with his family at the lake in Shuswap, B.C.
