Alberta-British Columbia Seed Growers: April 2025 newsletter

Our chair Sarah Weigum is in the news!

“When Sarah Weigum of Three Hills stepped into her new role as president of the Alberta-British Columbia Seed Growers (ABCSG), she inherited a strong foundation laid by her predecessors. But she’s not just planning to keep the seat warm—Weigum, 40, is already charting a course for the future of seed growing in the region.”

Meet our new directors

Hannah Logan

Hannah Logan was raised on her family’s farm, Wheatcrest Farms, near Lomond, Alberta, where she now represents the sixth generation. Established in 1906, Wheatcrest Farms has a long history of agricultural production, and Hannah is proud to continue that legacy. After graduating from Lethbridge College with a diploma in Crop and Soil Sciences, she continued her education at the University of Alberta, earning a degree in Agricultural Economics.

Luke Lindholm

Luke Lindholm grew up on his family farm outside of New Norway, Alberta. After attending Augustana College, he returned to his roots and enrolled at Olds College where he obtained a diploma in Agriculture Management.

Following that, Luke returned home to farm with his dad, Stevan Lindholm where they started Wellspring Seeds – alongside his wife, Erica, and mom, Carol.

Thank you to Tracy Niemela

The Alberta-British Columbia Seed Growers would like to recognize past chair and director Tracy Niemela for her years of service to the organization.

Upon reflection of her time on the board, Tracy wanted to let future generations know that there is no better way to learn about the industry and build confidence than by volunteering with ABCSG.

“All in all, my time on the board was valuable and worthwhile.  I’m grateful for the relationships built and the experiences I had during my time…” she added.

Thank you Tracy!
